Echinococcosis, neurocysticercosis, nematodes (ascariasis, trichuriasis, ankylostomiasis, enterobiasis, strongyloidiasis), trematodes (opisthorchiasis), giardiasis, microsporidiosis, mixed helminthiases. As an aid in the surgical treatment of echinococcosis cysts.
Tradename:
Albendazole
Albendazole
Compound:
Each 10 ml suspension contains:
Albendazole 400 mg
Auxiliary components:
Sucrose, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, methylcellulose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium lauryl sulfate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, citric acid monohydrate, banana flavor, purified water.
Properties:
Albendazole is a benzimidazole derivative with anthelmintic and antiprotozoal activity against intestinal and tissue parasites. Albendazole exerts larvicidal, ovocidal, and anthelmintic effects, presumably by inhibiting tubulin polymerization. This causes metabolic disturbances in helminths, including energy depletion (suppression of glucose uptake), which leads to immobilization and then destruction of susceptible helminths.
Indications:
Echinococcosis, neurocysticercosis, nematodes (ascariasis, trichuriasis, ankylostomiasis, enterobiasis, strongyloidiasis), trematodes (opisthorchiasis), giardiasis, microsporidiosis, mixed helminthiases. As an aid in the surgical treatment of echinococcosis cysts.
Dosage and administration:
When taken orally, a single dose is 400 mg. The frequency and duration of use depend on the indications and treatment regimen.
Contraindications:
Pathologies of the retina, pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding), children under 1 year of age (for all dosage forms), hypersensitivity to albendazole.
Precautionary measures:
Albendazole is used with caution in patients with inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, liver failure, cirrhosis of the liver, pathology of the retina.
It is necessary to stop therapy with the development of leukopenia. In neurocysticercosis with eye damage, a study of the retina is necessary before starting treatment (the risk of aggravating the pathology of the retina increases). Patients receiving high doses should be closely monitored, with constant monitoring of blood and liver function.
In children, the use of albendazole in high doses for a long time should be avoided.
Side effects:
From the digestive system: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, increased activity of hepatic transaminases.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, meningeal symptoms.
From the hemopoietic system: leukopenia, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.
From the urinary system: impaired renal function, acute renal failure.
Storage method:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.
Package:
The cardboard box holds a 30 ml bottle, paper instructions.
