Levcet syrup — for the treatment of symptoms of perennial (persistent) and seasonal (intermittent) allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, sneezing, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, lacrimation, conjunctival hyperemia;

Structure: Each tablet contains: Auxiliary components: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, pregelatinized starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

Pharmacological properties: Levocetirizine is the R-enantiomer of cetirizine; a competitive histamine antagonist; blocks histamine H1 receptors, the affinity for which is 2 times higher than that of cetirizine. Levocetirizine affects the histamine-dependent stage of allergic reactions; reduces the migration of eosinophils, reduces vascular permeability, limits the release of inflammatory mediators. Prevents the development and facilitates the course of allergic reactions, has an anti-exudative, antipruritic effect; practically does not have anticholinergic and antiserotonin effects. In therapeutic doses, it practically does not have a sedative effect.

Indications: treatment of symptoms of perennial (persistent) and seasonal (intermittent) allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, sneezing, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, lacrimation, conjunctival hyperemia; hay fever (hay fever); hives;

other allergic dermatoses, accompanied by itching and rashes.

Mode of application: The drug is taken orally during meals or on an empty stomach, without chewing, with a small amount of water. The daily dose is recommended to be taken in 1 dose.

Adults and children over 6 years of age: The daily dose is 5 mg. The maximum daily dose is 5 mg.

Children under 6 years of age are not prescribed pills: they use a different, liquid dosage form.

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to the active substance, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, any piperazine derivative or to any other excipient of the drug;

lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption;

end stage renal failure,

children under 6 years of age (for tablets, due to limited data on efficacy and safety).

Carefully:

Care is required in the following conditions: chronic renal failure (correction of the dosage regimen is necessary); in elderly patients (with age-related decrease in glomerular filtration), while drinking with alcohol, prostatic hyperplasia, as well as in the presence of other predisposing factors to urinary retention, since levocetirizine may increase the risk of urinary retention; when administered to pregnant women and during breastfeeding.

Precautions: Levocetirizine can lead to increased drowsiness, therefore, the drug may affect the ability to drive a car or work with equipment. During the period of taking Levocetirizine, it is advisable to refrain from performing potentially dangerous types of work that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reaction (including driving a car and controlling mechanisms).

Side effects: From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis.

From the side of metabolism: increased appetite.

From the side of the psyche: anxiety, aggression, agitation, depression, hallucinations, insomnia, suicidal thoughts.

From the nervous system: convulsions, thrombosis of the sinuses of the dura mater, paresthesia, dizziness, fainting, tremor, dysgeusia.

On the part of the organ of hearing: vertigo.

From the side of the organ of vision: visual impairment, blurred vision, inflammatory manifestations.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: angina pectoris, tachycardia, palpitations, jugular vein thrombosis.

From the respiratory system: shortness of breath, increased symptoms of rhinitis.

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Hepatobiliary disorders: hepatitis, changes in liver function tests.

From the urinary system: dysuria, urinary retention.

Skin and soft tissue disorders: angioedema, persistent drug erythema, itching, rash, urticaria, hypotrichosis, cracks, photosensitization.

From the musculoskeletal system: muscle pain, arthralgia.

General disorders: peripheral edema, weight gain.

Miscellaneous: cross-reactivity.
