* Composition: Each capsule contains:

Ursodeoxycholic acid 450 mg

*Auxiliary components: Povidone, dicalcium phosphate, methylparaben, propylparaben, aerosil, magnesium stearate.

* Properties: Hepatoprotector. Ursodeoxycholic acid is a bile acid. Reduces cholesterol in bile mainly by dispersing cholesterol and forming a liquid crystal phase. It affects the enterohepatic circulation of bile salts, reducing the reabsorption of endogenous, more hydrophobic and potentially toxic compounds in the intestine.

In vitro studies have shown that ursodeoxycholic acid has a direct hepatoprotective effect and reduces the hepatotoxicity of hydrophobic bile salts.

It has an effect on immunological reactions, reducing the pathological expression of class I HLA antigens on hepatocytes and suppressing the production of cytokines and interleukins.

Ursodeoxycholic acid reduces the lithogenic index of bile, increasing the content of bile acids in it. Promotes the partial or complete dissolution of cholesterol gallstones when taken orally. It has a choleretic effect.

* Indications: — dissolution of small and medium cholesterol stones with a functioning gallbladder;

— prevention of recurrence of stone formation after cholecystectomy;

— biliary reflux gastritis and reflux esophagitis;

— primary biliary cirrhosis of the liver in the absence of signs of decompensation (symptomatic treatment);

— chronic hepatitis of various origins;

— acute hepatitis;

— primary sclerosing cholangitis;

— mucoviscidosis of the liver;

— toxic (including medicinal) liver damage;

— non-alcoholic steatohepatitis;

— alcoholic liver damage;

— biliary dyskinesia.

* Method of administration and dosage: The drug Livagol must be taken daily in the evening, before bedtime (the capsules are not chewed), with a small amount of liquid. Duration of treatment is 6-12 months. For the prevention of recurrent cholelithiasis, it is recommended to take the drug for several months after the stones dissolve.

The recommended dose of ursodeoxycholic acid depends on body weight and is 13-15 mg / kg / day.

* Contraindications: — increased sensitivity to the components of the drug;

— X-ray positive (high calcium) gallstones;

— not functioning gallbladder;

— acute inflammatory diseases of the gallbladder, bile ducts and intestines, Crohn’s disease;

— liver cirrhosis in the stage of decompensation;

— severe disorders of the kidneys, liver, pancreas;

— complete obstruction of the biliary tract;

— bile-gastrointestinal fistula;

— frequent biliary colic;

— the period of breastfeeding;

— children under 3 years of age (not recommended for use in this dosage form).

* Precautionary measures: Taking the drug Livagol should be carried out under the supervision of a physician.

* Side effects: Gastrointestinal disorders: often — loose stools or diarrhea; very rarely — acute pain in the right upper abdomen (in the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis).

Disorders from the liver and biliary tract: very rarely — calcification of gallstones, decompensation of liver cirrhosis, which disappears after discontinuation of the drug (in the treatment of advanced stages of primary biliary cirrhosis).

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: very rarely — urticaria.
